I'm currently on the Google Workspace Starter plan and I'm curious if it's possible to buy just one Standard license to assign to a single user. Is there a minimum purchase requirement, like buying 10 licenses, or can I upgrade just one user without having to upgrade the entire workspace?

From what I've gathered, you can't just upgrade one user to Standard while keeping everyone else on Starter. It seems the Admin console only allows you to upgrade all users to Standard if you want to make that switch.
In my experience, you can mix Starter and Standard licenses under one account. We had both types before, and it worked well. I think there's no strict minimum if you're managing it right.
You can definitely go for a single Standard license! I've got a personal Workspace where it's just me and one family member, and it works fine.
Most of my customers manage it one at a time without issues. It all depends on how you handle it!
It might be a bit tricky. I had to upgrade at least 10 out of 50 users when I tried. Convincing Google’s sales team is key!

I ran into a similar issue. The sales team insisted on a minimum of 20 licenses. Maybe check with local resellers; they might have better options!
