Can I Create a Bootable Drive from Old Windows Files?

Hey everyone! I've got a DVD with all the files from an old PC that my parents used back in the early 2000s. They backed it up to Google Drive, and it seems like all the Windows installation files and program folders were just dragged from the C: drive onto the DVD. Is there a way to use these existing files to create a working Windows installation? I tried booting directly from the DVD, but it didn't work.

Nope, you'll run into issues since there are missing partitions and boot data required by BIOS from back then. Also, Windows configurations reference specific hardware and drivers that probably won't be compatible with modern machines. What are you hoping to do with a bootable image from those old files?

I wanted to use the old PC setup, see the desktop, access programs, and explore information stored there. It’s tough to dig through folders since many files are just .dlls and random .txts.

Unfortunately, that's not how it works. The files on your Google Drive can be used to access data, but you can't boot a Windows OS from them like that.
