I'm trying to automate the scaling of our app service instances from three down to one when it's unnecessary. However, we currently have zone redundancy enabled, which seems to be a requirement for maintaining multiple instances. I'm curious if it's possible to turn off zone redundancy in our app service plans.

It's also worth noting that turning off zone redundancy might limit your options later on. Depending on your region, once it's turned off, you might not be able to turn it back on, so proceed carefully.
You can actually toggle zone redundancy off on the *Settings > Scale out* page in your app service plan. It's a checkbox option, but I've never done it myself, so I can't confirm if it's as simple as just unchecking it.
Be cautious, though! Some sources suggest that once zone redundancy is enabled, you might not be able to disable it and would need to create a new app service plan with it turned off instead.
Yes, it is possible to turn zone redundancy on and off using Terraform. You can specify the instance size and count as well. Just keep in mind that the availability of zone redundant resources can vary by region.
