I've learned various programming languages including C, C#, C++, Java, Python, as well as SQL, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript. My studies revolved around data analysis and processing, so while I can program, I'm not an expert yet. Given that the job market is quite competitive for software engineers, do you think I can still secure a well-paying job as a data engineer, or would it be better to enhance my programming skills to switch to a general software engineering role?

It's important to consider what 'good pay' means for you, as salary expectations can vary significantly by location. In Portugal, you might initially see offers around 15k a year. But remember, other countries may offer much higher salaries, especially if you gain more experience and skills!
