So, my old computer just gave up on me, and I've built a new one from scratch. I'm running into issues trying to create a bootable USB since the only computer I have available is my work laptop, which is pretty basic and only meant for browsing the internet. Plus, I don't have admin rights to run .exe files. I managed to open programs like Balena Etcher and Ventoy, but they keep crashing or don't work properly. Is it possible to install the operating system from a USB without making it bootable?

Unfortunately, you can't install an OS from a USB unless it's bootable. The reason is that the USB needs a valid EFI executable for your computer's firmware to recognize it as a boot option. Without that, it won’t show up when you try to boot your system.
Got it, thanks! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking any options before I started asking friends to lend me their computers.
