I'm having an issue with my Aorus X870E Master motherboard and my Aorus 5090 Master GPU. The M.2 thermal guard is so large that it prevents my GPU from fitting into the PCI slot. Is it okay to install the GPU without the thermal guard? I currently have two Samsung NVME 990 Pro drives installed. Will they be fine without the M.2 thermal guard, or is there a risk involved?

Are your NVME 990s the version with their own heatsinks? You can technically run without a heatsink, but just know that under heavy use, you might see some thermal throttling which could affect performance. This usually happens during intense tasks like huge file transfers.

The main NVME with my OS is above the GPU without a heatsink, so only the extra NVMEs might have issues. I don't worry much about throttling as long as it won't damage them over time, right?
