Can I Recover My Deleted Google Docs File After 30 Days?

Hey everyone! I'm a writer who often uses Google Docs for jotting down ideas for my novel. I had a file filled with plots and character development notes, but after a creative block, I put it aside for a few months. Recently, I got a burst of inspiration and went to access my document, only to find it missing! My little brother might have accidentally deleted it, and despite searching in the trash, we can't locate it. Does anyone know if there's a way to recover deleted files after the 30 days? I checked the support page but didn't find any helpful info. I'm really in need of assistance here!

Once files are gone after the 30 days, they’re not recoverable, sadly. It’s a tough lesson, but keeping backups is crucial to avoid this kind of loss next time!

I really wish they had a longer recovery period! Six months would be much better.

Unfortunately, if it's been more than 30 days, the chances of recovery are pretty slim. Google’s policies state that files deleted from the Trash can’t be recovered after that time frame. In the future, consider keeping multiple backups—like the 3-2-1 rule: 3 copies of your files, 2 on different drives, and 1 in the cloud!

Thanks for the advice! I definitely plan on implementing the 3-2-1 backup strategy moving forward.

Always back up your important stuff locally! And maybe get a Google account that your brother can’t access for peace of mind.

It is my own account, and my brother generally doesn’t have access to it. I only allowed him to use it this once for school, and then this happened! Appreciate the tip, though.
