Can I Remotely Erase Data from My Stolen Phone?

I recently had my phone stolen, and the thieves are not planning to return it. I've activated lost mode and changed all my passwords, but the phone was turned off 12 hours ago. Now, I'm receiving suspicious texts from 'Apple' claiming my phone was found and prompting me to log into a shady link. Is it possible for me to erase all my data remotely? If I use the 'DELETE this device' option (as opposed to 'eliminate this device') in the Find My app, will that completely wipe my data? I have sensitive information, like notes and photos, that could lead to blackmail if accessed. The police have been of little help so far. I'm okay with not getting the phone back; I just need to ensure my data is deleted.

Absolutely, don’t remove the device from iCloud. Instead, use the 'erase' option to delete everything from your phone. Just keep in mind that this process will wipe your data permanently, so make sure you’re ready for that before proceeding.

Will doing that erase all my data and photos for sure?
