Can I report stolen Apple devices to Apple if I know the thief’s Apple ID?

I had my MacBook and iPads stolen, and I know the Apple ID of the thief. Is there any way to report this theft to Apple and request them to disable the devices? I have proof of purchase, their serial numbers, and the original packaging to support my claim.

Definitely report it to the police, especially since you know the thief's email. It's more effective than going to Apple. If you had 'Find My' enabled, you could also put the devices in Lost Mode, but if not, getting them back is pretty tough.

If you know who the thief is, your best bet is to go straight to the police. They can guide you on the next steps and might even reach out to Apple for assistance. Just having the Apple ID isn't enough; get that police report first.

Apple's policy is that they don't handle theft disputes. Even with proof of purchase, they consider who has the device linked to their account. If the thief's account is active, it's unlikely you'll get any support.

If you had Activation Lock enabled, your Apple ID is still tied to those devices. However, if they were stolen before you set it up, Apple isn't likely to intervene unless you file a police report. Just keep in mind that there's no guarantee they'll be able to help even with the report.

Apple won't get involved in this situation. They can help remove Activation Lock, but that won't really aid your case. You need to focus on law enforcement and possibly your insurance for recovery.
