I just bought a used Windows 11 desktop and it's prompting me for a BitLocker recovery key before I can reset it. I'm curious if there's a way to reset the PC without this key. Also, after resetting, will I need the key to use the computer again, or is it just for accessing the data on the previous user's profile? Thanks for any help!

BitLocker encrypts the storage drives, so if you don't have the recovery key, the only way to reset it is to wipe the drive partitions. Since this is a used device, you should definitely do that anyway. Once you wipe the drive, you won't need the recovery key to set up the PC again.
Could you point me to a guide on how to wipe the drive partitions? I realized I can't reset without the recovery key. Thanks for the help!
