I have an Nvidia 4000 series card that only uses the 12VHPWR cable, but I mistakenly tossed out the extra cables I needed. I'm thinking about switching to an AMD graphics card, and I'm curious if I can use a 2x8pin to 12VHPWR cable in reverse. Essentially, can I plug the 12VHPWR end into my PSU and the two 8pin connectors into my new AMD GPU?

Yes, you should be able to do that! Just make sure your PSU supports the wattage you need for the AMD card. Also, double-check that the 12VHPWR pinouts are correct.
What power supply are you using? That's going to be important for compatibility.
I’d suggest not taking any shortcuts with the cables—even if it seems like it should work, always confirm the specs first to avoid damaging your new card!
