I'm wondering if it's possible to run a GTX 1630 OC that requires a power connector without actually plugging it in. My HP EliteDesk 800 G2 can provide up to 75 watts to the graphics card, which means theoretically I might be able to power it through just the motherboard. However, I know the GTX 1630 is designed for some external power. Has anyone done this or is it just going to cause problems? Thanks for any insights!

Usually, Nvidia cards will throw up a warning if the power connector isn’t plugged in, and they might not even let your PC boot up. You'll likely need that connector for the GTX 1630, even if the card doesn't seem to require it based on power ratings. So, I'd be cautious about trying it without it.
Do you have any extra Molex connectors on your PSU? You could try using an adapter cable for that. Just be careful; there's a risk of damaging something. Upgrading your PSU might also be an option, but it could be tricky.
What are you planning to use the card for? If it’s just casual gaming like Fortnite or Rocket League, you might want to consider simpler solutions or different cards that don’t have power requirements.
It’s best to go for a graphics card that doesn’t require an external power connector. If the GTX 1630 has one, it was designed with that in mind. The card isn’t made to pull power directly from the motherboard without the connector, even if the PCIe slot could theoretically provide enough wattage.
