Can I run Cyberpunk 2077 at 3440×1440 with a 2080 Ti?

I'm planning to upgrade my nearly 10-year-old PC and just got an RTX 2080 Ti, which unfortunately doesn't fit in my case. I'm looking to play Cyberpunk 2077 at max settings on a 3440x1440 resolution while maintaining at least 60 fps. Is the 2080 Ti good enough for this, or should I consider a different graphics card? Also, I'd appreciate advice on the CPU since I mainly play older games, but I want to be able to run BG3 too. Just a heads up, I've mostly been on a budget with low to mid-range rigs so far.

It really depends on your budget, but the 2080 Ti is showing its age. For a good CPU alongside gaming, check out the 7800X3D or 9600X. And consider getting a 7900 XT if you want to keep that 60fps goal.

Good to know! I’ll keep an eye on those CPUs.

I'm using a 7900 XT with a 9800X CPU and I get about 65-70 fps on max settings, without using FSR. You should definitely consider trading that 2080 Ti in for a 4070 or a 7900 XT. Don't go for anything lower, though, they're not worth it.

Thanks! I'll look into that. I hadn't thought about trading in.

You're probably going to struggle to hit those high settings with the 2080 Ti, especially at that resolution. You might need to drop down the settings quite a bit if you want a smoother game.

Yeah, I currently have ray tracing on medium and I'm hitting around 50-61 fps, so I was thinking my CPU might be the bottleneck.

If you're on a 7800X3D with a 4070, you're looking at 60-70 fps easily in the city, but not on max settings. Just stay away from heavy ray tracing if you're aiming for smooth gameplay.

I see! Maybe I need to rethink how much ray tracing I want to use.

Running at max settings with that card? Not a chance. But you'll still be able to enjoy the game visually, just maybe not at the peak performance you're hoping for.

That’s what I’m worried about! Just want it to look good while playing.
