Can I Run My GPU with Only Two PCIe Cables?

I've got an ASUS Prime 9070 XT GPU and a Corsair SF750 power supply. The problem is my PSU only came with 2 PCIe 8-pin (6+2) cables, but my GPU has 3 slots to fill. Is it okay to just use 2 of the 8-pin connectors for now?

Haha, I was just about to ask something similar for my 7900 XTX! But from what I've seen, running it on just 2 cables isn’t the best idea—it's probably not safe. Some folks mentioned using an undervolt profile if you have to do that, but I'd still be cautious.

I totally get your concern! Just keep in mind that under heavy load, it might not perform well. Better safe than sorry!

Regarding the Corsair PSU, it provides 300W per 8-pin connection, so using 2 should give you 600W, which is typically enough for most GPUs. However, it would be ideal to use all 3 slots if possible. If you’re in a bind, you could try 1 dedicated cable plus a daisy-chained one from the other cable.
