Can I Run Steam Games on My Old Linux PC?

I recently got an old PC from my brother, and when I first started it, the mouse and keyboard didn't work right away. I've been interested in Linux for a while, so I decided to install Linux Mint. It works okay, but it's running really slow, and I'm having trouble getting Steam games to run. I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out!

Your setup with an i5-4570 and a GT 1030 should handle some older games just fine. What specific games are you trying to play? It's all about managing expectations with that kind of hardware.

Exactly, some older titles will run well even on that setup!

Just a heads up, don't expect to play the latest AAA titles on Mint; it won't magically boost your performance. After installing Steam, try enabling Proton and look for games designed for lower-end systems. If your setup allows, consider grabbing a used GPU, preferably AMD, for better driver support.

Thanks for the tips!

It sounds like your old PC is a bit underpowered for modern gaming. What's the exact CPU and how much RAM do you have? Getting those specs will help us figure out what you're working with and what games you might be able to run.

Yeah, if we know your specs, we can help you find games that actually work on that hardware.
