Can I Safely Use Two PSUs for Two GPUs in My Build?

I have an extra GPU and power supply just sitting around, and with the rise of new AI models, I want to incorporate them into my current setup. However, my existing power supply, which is 1000W for a 5090, isn't powerful enough to support another GPU. I've read that it's possible to use a second PSU (I have a 1000W for a 4070ti) with things like an add2psu adapter or powered riser cables. What's the best way to do this without risking any damage to my hardware?

You can definitely use both PSUs, but just remember to connect the grounds of both supplies to avoid any potential issues. It sounds complicated, but as long as you research the specific setup instructions, you’ll be alright. I'd personally recommend checking out some tutorial videos first—they can be super helpful!

Using a second PSU can definitely help you maximize your setup! You're right that options like add2psu adapters or powered risers are great for connecting that extra power supply. Just make sure to follow safety instructions carefully to avoid overloading any components. Generally, a combined total of 1600W should be safe for running two GPUs. If you can get a higher-rated PSU later on, like a 2200W from a good brand, that might take care of future upgrades better!

Got it! My goal was to utilize what I already have, but I see your point about future-proofing my setup. Thanks!
