I'm currently dual-booting Windows and Linux and I'm looking to set up a shared drive for games that both operating systems can access. My goal is to install games once on a secondary drive rather than having separate installations for each system. I've come across mixed advice online regarding file systems, Steam libraries, and Proton compatibility. I'm really curious if anyone has successfully implemented a reliable shared drive setup for games across both platforms.

You can set up a shared drive, but I recommend using NTFS since Windows can read it. Just keep in mind that performance on Linux might be slower with NTFS. For the best experience, it might be wiser to install the games on their respective OS partitions instead of sharing them.

I get that, but all my games run well on Linux. I only boot into Windows for a couple of programs, and for example with Rocket League, I can't purchase credits in the game while on Linux. I'd rather not install it twice for infrequent purchases.
