Can I share a pair of monitors between two computers using different cables?

I'm thinking about connecting two computers to a pair of monitors: one computer will use two DisplayPort cables, while the other will use two HDMI cables. Instead of using a KVM switch, I plan to switch the monitors between the two by changing the input manually. Is this a feasible setup or will it cause any issues?

That's a neat idea, but keep in mind you'll have to change the inputs on both monitors every time you switch computers. If you find yourself switching often, that might get old pretty quickly. A KVM switch makes it super simple, letting you toggle with just a button.

Yes, that'll work! Some monitors automatically switch inputs if one device is on while the other is off, but you'll have to use the input controls manually if you want to switch quickly.

You might want to look into a KVM switch instead. It connects multiple computers and lets you share your keyboard, video, and mouse seamlessly.

If you're not using the second computer often, Remote Desktop could be a great alternative. My second PC acts like a server, and I just access it via Remote Desktop whenever I need to—no input switching required!

It should work fine if your graphics cards and monitors have the required ports. If you want to do it that way, go for it! Just be aware that switching inputs can be a bit of a hassle.
