I'm going to be away from my phone for about three hours while I'm at my Mac. Can I still send messages to others from my Mac, or does my phone need to be nearby? Thanks for any help!

For iMessages, you’re good to go. Regular text messages might work too because iCloud can help send those, but I'm not 100% sure. Just a heads up, you won't be able to make calls on other devices without your phone. By the way, what's the reason your phone will be that far away from your Mac? Sounds interesting!

Yeah, you can send messages from your Mac as long as the other person is also using an Apple device. Just make sure you're logged into your Apple ID on both devices!

Thanks for the info!

You don't actually need your phone super close for iMessage. You can use iMessage and WhatsApp web freely without your phone being nearby. Just keep in mind that if you want to mirror your phone, you'll need it nearby for that.
