Looking for Advice on Upgrading My PC for WoW

Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade my PC for my birthday this Friday. I built my rig back in 2019 and I think it's time for a little boost, mainly focusing on the CPU since I mostly play classic World of Warcraft. I'm curious about a few things:

1. Will the Ryzen 5 5600 be compatible with my ASRock B450M Pro4 motherboard?
2. How do I go about updating my BIOS?

Here are my current specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 2600
- GPU: GTX 1660 Ti
- Motherboard: ASRock B450M Pro4
- RAM: 16GB DDR4-3000
- Storage: 512GB SATA SSD + 1TB HDD
- PSU: 850W Gold
- Monitor: 1080p 60Hz

I just want to make a minor upgrade, so any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600X would be a huge performance leap from your current 2600, especially if you update the BIOS first. It’ll fit perfectly in your motherboard's socket. After that, you'd want to look into upgrading your GTX 1660 Ti down the line for even better performance.

Thanks! Could you walk me through how to update the BIOS? Where do I download it from?

If you’re mainly playing WoW, do you really need to upgrade? Your current setup can handle it, but I understand wanting to treat yourself, especially for your birthday! A little boost is never a bad idea.

True! Just want to give my 7-year-old PC some love, you know? Gotta treat myself once in a while!

Yes, the Ryzen 5 5600 should work with your motherboard once you update the BIOS. Just ensure to back up your data first, though a BIOS update shouldn’t erase anything. I recommend checking ASRock's site for the supported CPU list before proceeding. Also, consider upgrading your RAM to 32GB since 16GB is becoming a bit limited these days, especially with WoW.
