Can I Stream a PC Game to My TV Using Console Hardware?

I'm trying to play a game that's only available on PC, but my laptop is pretty old and not very reliable. I'm curious if there's a way to use console hardware, particularly my PS5, to stream this PC game to my TV. I get that you can typically use remote play or some software like Steam Link for gaming consoles, but I'm not sure how to go about streaming a PC game using just the console's capabilities instead. Is this even possible?

Your PS5 should theoretically be able to help out, especially with software like Sunshine and Moonlight, though it won't be straightforward. You'd need to install specific systems on your console, like Linux, to pull it off. It's a complex setup but it might be your best bet.

Unfortunately, what you're suggesting isn't really feasible. You can't use your console's hardware to run a PC game directly; the console can't do the heavy lifting for your old laptop. Basically, your laptop would still need to perform a lot of the work here, even if you're trying to stream it.

I get that, but I'm just hoping to find a way for the console to do most of the processing while the laptop just delivers the game data.

If you're considering using your console to stream, you might want to look into Moonlight. With some setup, you could get it running on your console or even on smart TVs if they're compatible. But be aware, it will require some technical work.

So, you're saying Moonlight could help me use the PS5 to stream? What do I need to set it up?

It sounds like you're looking for a setup that doesn't exist. You'd usually need a proper PC to run PC-exclusive games, and consoles can't be used to run PC games directly like that. It's a bit of a long shot, honestly.
