I'm considering buying a second-hand 5090 GPU and I'd like to see if I can use my current PC with a 750W small form factor power supply to check its specs and benchmark performance. Has anyone done this before?

If I were investing that much in a GPU, I wouldn't risk it with a potentially underpowered PSU. I'd make sure everything is set up perfectly before powering anything on, especially since benchmarking can really push the components to their limits.
You can check the specs without any issue, but I wouldn't advise benchmarking. There's a real chance you could fry the card or damage your PC in the process.
I found some real-world power consumption stats, and honestly, I wouldn't recommend using a 750W PSU for a 5090. It's just too risky and could overload the system.
Would it even be safe just to power it up briefly and check its specs in something like HWInfo?

I get that, but I'm just looking to test it before buying to ensure it's not faulty. If it works out, I plan to upgrade my PSU.
