Can I Upgrade My Old Laptop CPU to a Desktop One?

I have an old Lenovo G560 laptop, and I noticed that its CPU resembles a desktop CPU but lacks a metal frame. I'm wondering if I can replace it with a desktop CPU by removing the frame. Also, if that's not possible, which more powerful compatible CPU (ideally with integrated graphics) could I upgrade to, considering I'm looking for something from the first, second, or third generation? English isn't my first language, so I hope I'm clear!

Actually, the CPU in your laptop is a socketed mobile CPU, not a desktop one. It's designed to fit within the constraints of a laptop, and unfortunately, it's limited to 1st generation Core i CPUs. You won't be able to install anything newer without major modifications to your hardware, if at all.

So, just to clarify, is a Core i5 from the first gen an option then?

What if I remove the frame from a desktop CPU? Would that work?
