Can I upgrade my Windows 10 PC to Windows 11 by swapping parts?

I'm looking to see if I can upgrade my Acer Aspire ATC-710-ES61 from Windows 10 to Windows 11 without buying a whole new computer. In the past, a tech told me I couldn't upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 because my PC didn't have the right parts for it. They pointed out issues like needing more powerful fans due to higher energy consumption from Windows 10, which I didn't fully understand. Now, I want to know if it's possible to just swap out the necessary components in my current Windows 10 PC to make it compatible with Windows 11, or if that would be cheaper than getting a new PC altogether. Any advice?

About what the tech told you earlier, they might not have explained it well. Your power needs won’t change just because you're switching to a new OS. But for Windows 11, you must have at least a Ryzen 2000 series or Intel 8000 series CPU. You could get Windows 11 on older hardware, but it won’t be supported officially. What are your specs?

I'm a bit lost with specs, but I have an Intel i5 6400 CPU, 12 GB RAM, and 2TB hard drive. Does that help?

Just swapping physical parts won’t automatically upgrade your OS. You might be able to make it compatible with Windows 11, but that’s not guaranteed. You might also need a new hard drive and a fresh install since the OS should ideally be pre-installed on it.

That's my goal—trying to make my existing setup work without a full replacement.

The ability to upgrade your PC really depends on its current specs. You might have to replace just the CPU, or potentially the motherboard and the CPU, or maybe even more parts. It varies from machine to machine.

Yeah, and if you're looking to upgrade, it's probably best to get a full rundown of what your PC currently has to see what will fit.
