Hey everyone! I have an HP Laptop 15-fc0028AU that I bought back in May 2023. When I got it, I was on a tight budget and focused on finding a good CPU. Unfortunately, I ended up with just 8GB of RAM, which I thought I could upgrade later since RAM is usually easy to get. I didn't realize how much I'd need more RAM until I started gaming recently, and even Chrome was using up to 60% of it! I've read conflicting info online about whether I can upgrade the RAM because some sites mention that it might be soldered to the motherboard. I really hope I can upgrade it, but I'm not sure what to believe. Can anyone help clarify if my RAM can be upgraded? Thanks!

Yeah, it’s tricky since multiple configurations exist for your model! Generally speaking, if you've got the faster models, the RAM is usually soldered, but you might have the variant that allows upgrades. It's worth looking at HP's site or some memory vendors to see what they say about your specific model number.
Try using memory configurators from brands like Kingston or Crucial. They can guide you on compatible upgrades based on your laptop's model. Just remember, even if it shows two slots, it doesn't always mean you can upgrade. Some might just be non-user replaceable.
Awesome, I'll give that a shot and see what options I have. Thanks a bunch!
From what I found, your specific model usually has non-upgradable RAM, meaning it's typically soldered on. However, some configurations may have upgradable options depending on the hardware included. It seems there’s a mix of DDR4 and LPDDR5 versions out there. You could check your task manager to see what RAM configuration you have, as that might help you confirm. Just keep in mind, if yours is one of the versions with the soldered memory, upgrading won't be possible.
I did check the task manager, and it shows I have 2 slots available. Is that a good sign?
Thanks for the tip! I'll check those sites out to find more info.
