I'm currently running an i3-12100F with an H610 motherboard, and I'm looking to upgrade my CPU for better productivity and gaming performance. I code, so a faster CPU will help with compile times, and I suspect my i3 is bottlenecking my 4070 graphics card. I'm not able to switch to AM5 because I want to keep my 32GB of DDR4 RAM. I've considered getting a 5700X with an AM4 board, but I can only find it as a tray version and I'm wary of the sellers around me. The same goes for the 12600K, which is also tray-only. The only boxed CPU within my budget that won't demand a new motherboard is the 14400F. My question is: can I upgrade to the 14400F, update the BIOS, and use it safely? Will it perform well, or will my motherboard hold it back?

Make sure your motherboard's BIOS is up to date to support 14th Gen CPUs. Without the right update, compatibility is not guaranteed. Check your motherboard's manufacturer site for specific details on BIOS support for the 14400F.

I found that the 2063 BIOS update from ASUS definitely supports the 14400F, so you're on the right track!
