Can I Use 256GB RAM with My 9950X CPU That Only Supports 192GB?

I'm building a new PC with a 9950X3D processor and a GIGABYTE X870E AORUS Elite WIFI7 motherboard. I mistakenly bought 256GB of RAM while the CPU only supports a maximum of 192GB. What will happen if I install all 256GB? Will the CPU just limit it to 192GB and work normally, or should I expect issues?

That’s a hefty amount of RAM! You might want to consider if you really need all that memory because it could be overkill for most setups. On top of that, there's a chance your PC won't even boot with 256GB installed. It’s typically safer to stick to the CPU’s limits.

I'm just worried about running multiple VMs and containers! It’s tough to manage with only 128GB.
