I've been looking into power supplies and I need some clarification. I have an MSI B460M Pro VDH WiFi motherboard, and I noticed that many newer Corsair power supplies have removed the -12V pin from their 24-pin connectors. Since my motherboard has a place for that -12V pin, can I still use one of these newer power supplies, or do I specifically need a PSU that includes that -12V pin?

Good news! The -12V rail has been irrelevant for quite some time—over 20 years. It was mainly there for older PC/ISA bus compatibility. Since modern motherboards like yours don’t use it, you should have no problem using a newer PSU that lacks the -12V pin.
Ah, I see. I’m a complete noob when it comes to PCs and barely know anything. Thank you for enlightening me.
