Hey everyone! I recently bought a Seasonic Core GX ATX3.1 650W power supply, but I'm running into a compatibility issue. My RTX 3070 FE has a proprietary 12-pin connector, while the PSU only has a 12VHPWR and two 8-pin connections. I have an adapter that converts 2 x 8-pin to the 12-pin for my GPU, which worked with my previous Cooler Master PSU. Since the adapter is not a Seasonic cable, I'm wondering if it's safe to use. Any advice?

You should be good! The 12VHPWR cable is compatible with 3000 FE cards like yours. The 12-pin part connects, and the extra 4-pin sensor pins are just for the card’s power management but don’t need to connect. I’ve been using mine with a 3080 FE for over two years with no problems.
It's generally not a good idea to mix cables from different brands. You can use adapters, but stick to the ones provided with your GPU. Your 12VHPWR cable should connect directly to the 3070 without issues, just ensure you’re not mixing it up with non-compatible cables.
What about that extra little part on the 12VHPWR that doesn't connect to anything?
Got it, I see now that the PSU cable is a 12+4 type, and my GPU only needs the 12-pin. I understand better now.

Thanks, it's all sorted now! Appreciate the help!
