Hey guys! So I've got my PlayStation tucked away in a compartment of my TV cabinet. Here's a link to a photo for reference: https://imgur.com/a/6OLkpcQ. There's a small opening in the back for cables and some ventilation, but the console tends to get pretty hot and is making a lot of coil whine noises. I was thinking about using a PC fan to push some air through that hole. My plan is to connect the fan via USB so that it turns on whenever the PlayStation does. Do you think this setup would work okay? Here's the fan I'm considering: Noctua fan - https://amzn.eu/d/dahFslV and a 4 Pin to USB cable - https://amzn.eu/d/cWGmH7A. Would love your thoughts!

That should work fine! Just make sure the fan is set to blow air into the cabinet, as that would help cool it down even better. I’ve customized a few cooling systems myself; once I modded an Alienware with an upgraded heatsink and added an exterior fan that really improved airflow!
Just give it a shot!
I’m curious if the fans will actually work that way. Do they need a chip to receive a signal to start, or is just plugging them into a USB enough to get them going?
