I'm setting up my new PC and have a Corsair RM850e PSU that has three 8-pin PCIe connections, but I need to use one for my CPU. My GPU, an EVGA 3080 FTW3 ULTRA, has three 8-pin connections. If I connect one 8-pin directly to the GPU, can I use a splitter on the remaining two 8-pin connections to power it? I also have a 12-pin HPWR to 2 8-pin splitter that came with the PSU, but I'm not sure if the port on the PSU, which isn't labeled PCIe, is safe to use for that purpose.

If you have a 12-pin HPWR to 2 8-pin splitter, you should use that one. It helps distribute the power well across the GPU. Even if the PSU port isn't labeled, it should still be compatible as long as it's designed to handle the power output. Just make sure everything's plugged in properly, and you should be good to go!

Are you sure it’s safe to use, though? I don’t want to damage anything with the wrong connections.
