I'm considering upgrading my old i5-7400 CPU since it's struggling with games like BeamNG Drive. I'm fine with my GTX 1060 for now, but I'm curious if it's okay to pair the new i5-13400F with it. Will there be any significant bottlenecks, or should I just save up for both a new CPU and GPU later?

I'd recommend saving up and upgrading both parts together if you can. That way, you’ll have a more balanced system in the long run.

In most AAA games, having the GPU as the bottleneck is ideal. If you're satisfied with the GTX 1060, then just keep it for a while longer!

You can definitely use the i5-13400F with the GTX 1060, and it should work smoothly. Generally, it's good to have a CPU that’s a bit stronger for 1080p gaming. You'll see solid improvements!

It's totally fine to stick with the 1060 as long as it meets your needs. If you find it lacking in any games, then consider an upgrade! You can also check performance using the Windows performance monitor to see what might be holding you back.

No worries, the i5-13400F won't bottleneck the GTX 1060 at all! You can use that combo without any performance concerns. In fact, for CPU-intensive games like BeamNG, you'll see a nice boost! Just know that for a lot of games, a better GPU is what you really need for improved performance.
