I'm currently experiencing some green glitches on my screen, and after reinstalling the drivers and testing my integrated graphics, I suspect my GTX 1660 Ti might be failing. Here's my current setup: a 500W 80+ PSU, 16GB of RAM at 2666MHz, a Ryzen 5 3400G, and the GTX 1660 Ti on an A320M Pro motherboard. I'm looking to upgrade to an RTX 5050, but I noticed it typically requires at least a 550W PSU. However, since my CPU is relatively low power and won't draw too much, I'm curious if I can get away with using my existing 500W supply. I'm okay with potential bottlenecks since I don't plan on pushing my CPU to its limits right now. Just want a functional upgrade before my old GPU completely dies!

Honestly, you’ll probably be fine with a 500W PSU for the RTX 5050, but if the manufacturer recommends at least 550W, it's a good idea to stick to that guideline. Playing fast and loose with your power supply can lead to issues down the road, and the worst-case scenario is frying your system, which no one wants.

I get that! I'm in the same boat—if I can manage with my current PSU, I'll hold off on upgrading. But given that mine is getting old anyway, I think I might just bite the bullet and grab a new one for peace of mind.
