Can I Use Linux for 3D Art as a Daily Driver?

Hey everyone! I'm considering making the switch to Linux as my primary operating system. I recently tried it on an old laptop and loved the overall experience, especially the aesthetics with Hyprland. The challenge I'm facing is that I work as a 3D environment artist, and I heavily rely on tools like Substance Painter, ZBrush, and Photoshop, which are mainly for Windows. Is there a reliable way to run this software on Linux without needing to set up a dual boot? I'd really appreciate insights from anyone who has navigated a similar situation. Thanks a lot! ❤️ Also, I use Unreal Engine and Unity, so any info about those would be great too.

Both Unity and Unreal have versions that run on Linux! Just keep in mind that you might run into some issues with plugins not being compatible.

If Adobe products are a must for your workflow, you might find Linux quite limiting. However, if Blender meets your needs, it's fully compatible with Linux!

Unfortunately, Blender isn't comprehensive enough for my texturing needs. I'm considering 3D Coat since it supports Linux as well, but I'm still stuck on Substance Designer and Photoshop.

Surprisingly, Substance Painter actually works on Linux thanks to its Steam listing. You’ll likely need to use it alongside Blender and consider alternatives to Photoshop, like GIMP or Krita.
