Can I Use My Motherboard After a Failed BIOS Update?

Hey everyone, I'm new to building PCs! I recently bought an MSI B850M-P motherboard and tried to flash the BIOS. Unfortunately, the LED blinks a few times for about 15 seconds and then turns off, which makes me think the BIOS update failed. My question is: can I still use the motherboard even though the BIOS update didn't go through, or should I attempt to fix it again? I'm planning to pair it with a Ryzen 7600X processor, so just want to know my options. Sorry if this sounds like a silly question!

The 7600X should work fine! Try booting up the motherboard first, and then you could update the BIOS later using the Mflash utility in the BIOS settings.

It actually supports the 7600X right out of the box, so I wouldn’t worry too much about messing with the BIOS.

Good to know! Just wanted to confirm that a failed BIOS update won’t brick the motherboard, right?

It's great that you're trying to get it updated! Let's hope it's not a total loss; keep your fingers crossed!

Did you make sure to name the BIOS file correctly before flashing? Most brands require you to rename the file or change its file type for the flash to work properly.

I named it msi.rom and double-checked. Not sure what went wrong.
