I've got a 2015 iMac that I was told is considered 'vintage' and can't use Sidecar or AirPlay. It's in good shape, but it's frustrating because I expected to connect my iPhone to it via a Lightning to USB cable. I'm looking for alternatives since I find myself getting more and more irritated with Apple's limitations. Are there any third-party programs or solutions to use my iOS devices as microphones or share their screens with my iMac?

Honestly, a 2015 iMac is pretty old in tech terms. Maybe consider getting a USB microphone instead? They start pretty cheap and can offer better sound quality than your iPhone's mic.
Your iMac is actually one of the oldest models that can support Sidecar if it's a Retina 5K. If it's the smaller version, it might not suit your needs. What's your model exactly?
Yeah, I have the 21.5-inch, late 2015 model, so it doesn't meet the requirements for Sidecar.
It'd be helpful to know what you’re trying to do specifically. If it’s just about having a mic, a USB mic is a straightforward option. But if you're hoping to use your iMac as a second display for drawing apps, that might require a separate setup altogether.
I'm aiming to display my canvas while using ProCreate, so it’s sort of a different issue than just the mic. Still, appreciate the mic suggestion!
Right? It seems a bit strange to have modern devices and not be able to use their features easily with a computer. A USB mic could definitely solve the problem you're facing.
