Hey everyone! I recently built a new PC and I'm trying to figure out what to do with my 1TB SSD from my old system. My old PC, where I played The Sims, passed away before I could back up all my mods and custom content. I really want to keep everything that was on that SSD. Can I just install it in my new PC and expect to have access to all my old game files? If not, is there any way I can salvage that data? I'm not super tech-savvy, so any advice would be appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

Yes, you can definitely reuse your old SSD in your new PC! However, be cautious if you try to boot from that SSD directly. You might run into some performance issues or weird problems due to old drivers clashing with the new hardware. It's usually best to install Windows on a new SSD and then connect your old one as a secondary drive to access your files without complications.
If you're worried about whether the SSD is okay to use, it might be good to test it in the new PC without relying on it as the boot drive. If it turns out to be damaged, using it could potentially cause issues with your new system. Given that the SSD is fairly new, though, it’s likely still good. Just make sure to back it up as soon as you get everything set up!
You should have access to your game content on the SSD, as long as the drive itself is still functioning. If your PC died because of a power supply failure, the SSD might be fine, but there’s a slight chance it could be damaged. Just so you know, the Windows license is tied to the motherboard, so if you switch motherboards, you may need a new Windows license to activate it again. Be aware that if you have an Intel SSD and are switching to an AMD motherboard, you'll need to update your drivers, which Windows can usually handle.
