Hey everyone! I'm curious about whether it's feasible to utilize my SSD to enhance performance, specifically for playing Oblivion Remaster. I have 12GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, and I was hoping I could allocate part of the SSD to act like VRAM to handle more demanding games. Is that possible?

You can't really use your SSD as VRAM directly, unfortunately. What you might be thinking about is creating a swap file or virtual memory, but that's not going to give you the performance boost you're looking for. Your OS does some of this already, but relying on it isn't great, especially for gaming. SSDs are much slower than actual RAM, so it won't help your game performance in the long run. Best to stick with your current setup!
Honestly, using an SSD for extra RAM or VRAM will be incredibly slow if it even works at all. Plus, you’re going to face a lot of lag, making your games unplayable. It's just not a viable option for gaming, especially with the demands of modern titles. You might want to consider getting better actual RAM instead.
Nope, you can't use an SSD as VRAM or RAM. Your operating system does handle some virtual memory, but that's not something you can tweak on your own to get better performance for games that require more RAM. If the game needs more memory than you've got, it’s just not going to run smoothly, and the SSD won’t help.
If you could do this, it would still be so slow that it would ruin your gaming experience. Stick with what's physically in your computer for the best results.
What's the real use of virtual memory then? Isn't it just for managing background tasks?
