Hey everyone! I hope this isn't too basic of a question. I'm considering buying an iPhone 8 for $25. The phone is in good condition and not linked to any iCloud account, but the SIM card slot is broken, so I can't use mobile data or make calls. However, I'm planning to use it solely on Wi-Fi. My main concern is whether I'll still be able to access the App Store to download apps and possibly subscribe to services like ChatGPT. Does the absence of a SIM card or the age of the phone affect my ability to do this? Thanks so much for any insight you can provide!

The SIM card really only matters for calls and mobile data. With a Wi-Fi connection, you're all set to use the App Store and get any apps you want. So go for it!
Absolutely, you can use the App Store just fine without a SIM card. A long time ago, Apple offered the iPod Touch, which was like a basic iPhone but without cellular capabilities. Same applies here; a broken SIM slot won't stop you from downloading apps. Just connect to Wi-Fi, and you’re good to go! You can even use things like iMessage and FaceTime over Wi-Fi.
That’s great to know! Thanks for your help!
Thanks for the reassurance, much appreciated!
