Can I Use the Heat Sink to Secure My M.2 SSD Instead of the Standoff?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to install my M.2 SSD, but I'm having a bit of an issue. It doesn't seem to lay flat when I use the standoff and screw that came with it, making it impossible to put the heat sink on my motherboard. I'm wondering if it's okay to use the heat sink itself to hold down the SSD instead of the standoff? I've attached some pictures for clarity: one shows the standoff, and the other shows the heat sink in place of the standoff and tiny screw.

You’re supposed to let the heat sink secure the SSD instead of using the extra screw with the standoff. Just make sure the SSD is fully seated in the slot, and you should be able to use the heat sink to hold it down effectively.

It looks like you have two standoffs stacked. Try removing one of them; that should help it fit correctly. It shouldn't be installed like that!

I thought I needed to use the standoff since it came packaged together. Not sure why they included it otherwise.
