Can I Use Two Different GPUs for Dual Monitors?

I have an older RX 5500 XT and a newer 6700 XT. I'm considering using the 6700 XT for my main monitor while setting up the 5500 XT for a second monitor. Is this feasible, or will they conflict in some way? I didn't find much information online about this setup.

You could use both, but honestly, it seems unnecessary. Either GPU should be able to handle two monitors without any issue on its own. What's the actual problem you're trying to solve?

When I'm gaming, I like to have Twitch streams or a Discord call open, and that seems to push the 6700 XT pretty hard.

Yes, you can definitely do that! However, using both GPUs might not be the most efficient choice since the 6700 XT can handle up to four displays on its own. It's a bit overkill to have the 5500 XT just for an extra monitor.

I found that the 6700 XT can max out when I'm gaming and also trying to watch streams on the second monitor. I typically play at 1440p, so I'm really pushing the card.

It sounds more like your CPU might be the bottleneck, not the GPU. The 6700 XT shouldn't have any troubles with gaming at full load while managing a second display. Check your CPU performance—if you're using a 5600X, that might also be part of the issue, but it shouldn't max out during typical usage.

Yeah, it's a 5600X, and I haven't seen it reach super high usage when I check.
