Hey everyone, I'm looking for some guidance on using two NVMe SSDs with my sister's MSI B550M-P GEN 3 motherboard. She currently has a 1TB NVMe MP33 M.2 SSD installed and recently purchased another NVMe SSD. We're trying to figure out if it's possible to use both SSDs simultaneously on this motherboard since we couldn't find any additional slots for the new SSD. Just to note, we had this PC pre-built, so we're not very familiar with the ins and outs of PC building. Any advice would be truly appreciated as we're considering returning the new SSD if it won't work!

You can actually buy a PCIe to M.2 adapter! It allows you to use any empty PCIe slot for an M.2 SSD. I have one installed in my PC, and it works like a charm. Just make sure to choose a low-profile model if you're tight on space in your case. Here’s one I have: [Amazon Link].

Unfortunately, the MSI B550M-P only has one M.2 slot available. To use the second NVMe SSD, you'll need to get a PCIe to M.2 adapter that fits into one of the available PCIe slots, but be aware that this could impact the performance of the NVMe drive. Alternatively, if you're open to it, you might want to consider using a SATA SSD instead since the motherboard has four SATA ports.

Thanks for the info! That's a bummer, but I guess it makes sense. Looks like a SATA SSD might be the way to go for now.

Also, just a heads-up, it’s worth mentioning that not having a dedicated GPU might make things a bit tricky if you need to use those PCIe slots for other purposes down the line. Good luck with your setup!
