Can I Use UTP Cables with Shielded Ones in My Network Setup?

Hey everyone! I recently relocated my company to a new site and decided to use CAT6a S/FTP cables for the network setup. The patch panel and all cables are grounded and tested, but the only CAT6a S/FTP cables I could find are a bit heavy-duty and just 25cm long. Is it alright if I use regular CAT6a UTP cables from the switch to the patch panel, given that the patch panel is grounded?

You definitely can use the UTP cables, but just remember that you'd be breaking the shielding continuity. This might undermine the benefits you paid for with those shielded cables. Staying consistent throughout the entire setup is usually the best approach.

Using short lengths of unshielded cable shouldn't be a problem, especially since they're not tightly bundled to cause crosstalk. If the shielded section is grounded properly, you should be fine. Honestly, unless you were in an area with a lot of EMI, those cables were probably overkill, or you'd have been better off with fiber for extra security.
