Hey everyone! 👋 I'm currently working at a large hospital in England, and we're exploring ways to cut down on our VDI costs. Right now, we're using Citrix as our VDI provider, but I've come across this solution called the "Island Browser." From what I gather, it's an enterprise browser that can be managed by our IT team. They're claiming it could help lower our VDI expenses. I've read that it supports Windows RDP and has some web solutions, but I'm still a bit unsure how it actually contributes to cost reduction. Has anyone implemented Island Browser or have any insights on this?

Based on our experience, Island Browser is like Chrome with enhanced security and management features. If your VDI needs mainly revolve around SaaS apps, it could potentially replace your VDI setup. It provides tools for user authentication and content filtering. But if you're running traditional applications like Excel via VDI, transitioning to Island may be tricky because those types of apps are not easily shifted away from VDI without rethinking how they’re accessed.
Just a heads up, we tried using Island Browser in our setup, but it flagged by our security software (CrowdStrike) as potentially harmful. Not sure if your installer was similar, but just keep an eye out for those red flags!
