Hey everyone! I have an old GPU (AMD Radeon RX 570 from 2017) and I'm using it with an MSI G27CQ4 E2 monitor that has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and a refresh rate of 165 Hz. Recently, I've been experiencing some performance issues while gaming, such as stutters and inconsistent FPS. I'm wondering if I should lower the refresh rate on my monitor to help my GPU out until I can upgrade, or would it be better to cap the game's FPS instead? Appreciate any advice!

Honestly, lowering the refresh rate might not help much since your GPU will still try to push as many frames as it can. If it's already dropping below 60 FPS, capping it at that won't really smooth things out. It’s better to monitor your FPS and see where it’s at before making changes.
Thanks for the tips! What if I just lower the refresh rate on my monitor from 165 Hz to something like 120 Hz? Would that help?

You could cap it a bit lower than where it peaks. If you're getting between 50-70 FPS, capping it at 45 or even 40 might actually feel smoother and less distracting.
