Can Malware Spread to USB Devices?

Hey everyone! I recently downloaded some sketchy software on my computer and then reset it using the "Reset This PC" option. I'm planning to do a clean install from a USB soon. My concern is, could any of my USB devices—like my Yeti microphone, Razer mouse and keyboard, or Corsair headphones—be infected? I really want to avoid bringing any viruses or trojans back onto my clean system. Is it likely that my USB devices got infected, or am I overthinking this? Any advice would be appreciated!

It's actually pretty rare for malware to infect devices like microphones or keyboards. While it's not impossible, most malware isn't programmed to target them specifically. So, unless you were using infected USB drives, you should be alright. Just keep up with your security measures!

You're smart to be cautious! Since you mentioned running scans with Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, and they came back clean, that's a good sign. Just make sure you don't connect any suspicious USB drives, and you'll minimize your risk.

First off, did you run Windows Defender or any other antivirus software before all this? Generally, malware doesn't spread to USB peripherals like mice or keyboards. You're probably safe on that front! But just to be safe, if you had any USB drives connected, you should definitely format them before using them again.
