Hey everyone! I'm new to Linux and trying to boost my computer skills. I'm considering a dual boot setup with Linux and Windows on my Acer Aspire 3 A314-35, but I'm unsure if it's feasible. Here are my laptop specs:

- 120 GB SSD (main drive)
- 500 GB HDD
- 8 GB RAM
- Intel Celeron N4500

Are these specs sufficient for dual booting? Also, which Linux distro would run smoothly on this setup, and how much space should I allocate for the Linux installation? Thanks for your help!

You should be able to do it, just give it a shot!

For future queries, always mention your distro and hardware specs, as well as any error messages! 😊

If you want to avoid complications while learning Linux, consider swapping your hard drive for a new one when you start. This way, you can revert back to Windows easily. Fedora KDE is user-friendly and runs well on your hardware without needing BIOS adjustments. Just keep your BitLocker key handy in case of any hiccups!

Yes, you can definitely dual boot! Just make sure to disable secure boot in your BIOS. As for Linux distros, I'd recommend Fedora, Linux Mint, or Ubuntu. They’re all great for beginners, but if you can, go for distros with XFCE since they use less RAM, which might be helpful on your laptop.

While your specs might be a bit tight, it should work for experimenting. Check how much space Windows takes and leave 20-30 GB for it, then create a partition for Linux—25 GB is usually recommended. Alternatively, you could try Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) for a no-commitment way to use Linux without dual booting.
