I've built my PC and I'm starting to worry that I might have a faulty motherboard. I'm working with a Dell XPS 8950 setup that includes an i9 12700k processor, a Corsair H60x Elite AIO cooler, and a 3060 Ti graphics card. Here's what's happening: when I don't connect the CPU ATX power cables and just plug the PSU into the wall, the fans and GPU spin up fine. But as soon as I connect the CPU power cables, nothing happens at all. Am I looking at a motherboard issue, or is there something else going on? Should I consider replacing the motherboard?

First off, double-check that you’re using the correct cables for your modular PSU. Also, try giving it a bit of time to see if it 'memory trains' when you switch it on. By the way, what’s the wattage of your PSU? It's worth noting that Dell sometimes uses proprietary power supplies. Did you get the entire setup as is, or did you buy the motherboard separately? If it’s the latter, it might require a specific PSU to function properly.
It sounds like your PSU might be the issue, especially if it’s the OEM 750W model you mentioned. Make sure all connections are secure, especially the CPU cables. If you’ve tried everything else and still have no luck, it could be worth considering a replacement or at least checking with Dell for compatibility.
