Can My AirPods Be Tracked After They’re Returned?

I lost my AirPods at a gym and just found them at a guy's house a few days later. The man said his nephew found them in the parking lot, and the gym employee had them until they're returned to me. My main concern is whether the employee can track my AirPods once I get them back. I'm also wondering if AirPods can only be connected to one Find My iPhone account or if resetting them would stop him from seeing their location. I checked and they still show as being at his place on Find My iPhone. Should I ask him about it when I pick them up? Any advice would be appreciated!

I think you should report that gym worker for not handing them in to lost and found when he found them. It's pretty shady that he took them home instead!

Honestly, it sounds a bit sketchy. Instead of dealing with all this stress, you might be better off just getting a new pair if it's too much hassle.

To put your mind at ease, only your iCloud account can track them. Resetting them will ensure no one else can see them on their Find My. If you're unsure, here's a link on how to reset your AirPods: support.apple.com/en-us/118531.

Honestly, you shouldn't stress too much about it. From what I know, AirPods aren't very cooperative with Find My, even in close range. Once you have them back, they’ll be tied to your account only.
