Can My Laptop’s Wifi Issue Be Fixed?

I have a Celeron N5095 laptop that suddenly lost all ability to connect to WiFi. I can't even find any WiFi settings—it's like it's completely disconnected from the hardware responsible for connectivity. I'm not very tech-savvy, and taking the laptop apart seems risky because I might cause more damage. I really need this laptop back since the one I'm using now is over 10 years old and barely runs anything!

First, check the Device Manager to see if your WiFi adapter is listed there. Sometimes, it can get disabled and just needs a little nudge to turn back on. If you see it but it isn't working, you might want to uninstall it from Device Manager and then reboot your laptop to see if Windows finds it again.

Try pinging the loopback address (127.0.0.1) via the command line. If you don’t get 4 replies, then it's likely your network card is faulty. If it is working, then it could be a software issue instead. In that case, reseating the WiFi card might help, but that would mean opening the laptop up a bit.

If you have an older model, it might have a physical switch for the WiFi on the side or a function key on the keyboard. But since you have a newer model, it’s probably not that. Check if the laptop was recently updated; sometimes updates can mess with drivers. If you can connect via Ethernet, download any necessary drivers from the manufacturer's site using another computer, just in case.

Is WiFi showing in your network settings at all? If it’s there but disabled, that could be your issue. Also, if you've tried everything and it’s still not responding, the WiFi hardware could be toast. If that's the case, you might need to consider a replacement WiFi card after opening it up.
